As a follow up to our successful TRUTH Cafe workshops on racial equity, we are pleased to announce a new program called "Racial Healing and the Gospel of Reconciliation: A Workshop on the Ministry of Reconciliation." Rooted in 2 Cor. 5:16-20, the workshop will teach Reconciliation as Spirituality, highlighting Biblical examples of reconciliation and our call to be ministers of reconciliation. With this foundation, participants will learn practical strategies to live out our role in the reconciliation process. Using racial healing as our focus, participants will learn a 6-step process of reconciliation that can be used as a resource tool for further healing and reconciliation in their communities.
Facilitated via Zoom by Rev. Vincent Howell from Centenary UMC - Clemmons and Cindy Thompson, the program will include videos, breakout discussion and polling questions. Participant outcomes include:
- Recognize the Biblical call to be ministers of reconciliation
- Learn how Jesus provided a model and roadmap for reconciliation
- Dismantle bias around demographic differences
- Use our voice to speak truth to power and privilege, resisting systemic oppression
- Share the Gospel of doing justice
- Learn a 6-step process for healing and reconciliation
- Utilize the resource tool in communities to further healing and reconciliation
Registration is open and the workshop will be held 4 different times this fall and next spring, and will last from 9:00am - 12:00pm, plus an optional conversation on implementation from 12:00pm - 1:00pm:
